Pasta Galore: I Love Carbs (Pt. 1)

Carbs? I don’t know her.

I think pasta is one of the foods I can never get enough of. I can eat it all the time and I will always crave it. So many different types of pasta and so many ways to cook it.

Though, some places do it (way) better than others. I won’t say too much about each of the place since the images here will (cliche) speak a thousand words).

Stelvio Toronto

If you saw my previous blog post, you would have seen this already. Stelvio is a great place to eat. Black and white aesthetics! But no really, it’s really tasty. I talked a little more about the place in my last post, so go check that one out.

Again, I had the Tortelli Di Zucca Alla Mantovana, which was ravioli with squash and a sage & butter sauce topped with pumpkin seeds. Sweet and rich.

Here is their menu if you want to take a look.

Jamie’s Italian

The famous Jamie Oliver’s restaurant?! Unfortunately, the pasta was not at par. I was very disappointed. My pasta was undercooked. Of course you want al dente pasta but it was undercooked to the point where it stuck to my teeth with every bite… Also, the sauce was no good. It sort of tasted like a can of tomatoes - literally just that.

My friend tried the margherita pizza and she also said it was no good. On another occasion I went with another group of friends and tried their meatballs and as you can expect, they were not good. It was very salty, I couldn’t really taste any of the herbs in there.

Of course I’m not Italian and I don’t know authentic Italian flavours but I’ll at least know if a dish tastes good or not. This place was not a hit in my books and would definitely not recommend it to anyone. Sorry Jamie.

Despite all that, if you are still willing to try, you can check it out here.

Reds @ Square One

This isn’t an Italian place so don’t expect much from their pasta, right? I would still like to say it was pretty tasty.

I’ll give you a little story though:
I went with a couple friends and we had a little drink. I think we had the sangria or something similar to that - a mixed drink with little alcohol content. We only had one drink but she almost face planted on the ground as we were browsing in the mall. Don’t worry though, her own hands caught her before she could break her teeth. I stared at her, thinking uhhhhhhhhhhh. I told her wow chill, stop being a drama queen, it was one drink. All jokes aside though, she was fine and the food was good.

I don’t understand why these sorts of restaurants need to have dim lighting. It makes it hard to see my food and most importantly, take photos of my food. I guess it’s to make ugly people like me look decent or whatever.

Here is their website.

Bonus!

I have no idea where I took this, but enjoy another pasta photo. Ravioli galore - haha.

Cheers to pasta!
